024 18/054 Is devotion compulsory? Are Equality and Equanimity practised by Indians?

GIST
The one who has experienced the Supreme Spirit, has a serene soul, does not regret or desire for things, views all the Creatures with equanimity, gets devoted to me and ultimately attains salvation.

Here, Krishna wants a person to become his devotee, to get salvation.

Added on: 6th November 2017: Though Mr. Narendra Modi, the Hon. Prime Minister of India, carries Bhagavad Gita Books to most countries, and gifts to Heads of Governments and States ruling the 190 countries of the World, personally, I believe that the precepts of Bhagavad Gita are rarely practised in India, with the required integrity.

Example: Are black animal species like buffaloes and white animal species like cows treated equally?

Ans: No. Both buffaloes and cows endow us with milk, just by eating some grass/hay and feed. Yet cows are treated as sacred, and buffaloes are treated as persona non-grata once their milk yielding capacity dwindles. If a cow is killed even accidentally, sin is attached (Recall the story of Gautama, who had to bring down River Godavari to the Earth, to cleanse his sin of accidentally killing a cow.). On the other hand, huge abattoirs are built for export of buffalo-beef to the whole World. Proof: Visakhapatnam is going to have the third largest abattoir in India, for killing buffaloes procured from Srikakulam, Viskhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and West Godavari Districts.

Another Example

16th Century Vizianagara King Srikrishna Deva Raya was a worshipper of Lord Vishnu. It is not clear whether he followed Bhagavad Gita in depth. According to some historians, Krishna Deva Raya was adept in slaying buffaloes in one stroke, to please the Goddess Durga, during Dusshera Celebrations.
